November 4th is only one day away, and it’s time for you to get out and vote. And if voting for the next President of the United States is not enough, head on into our forums over and get your vote on… TiPb style!

I am not one to complain but… I will admit there are some things that I would like Apple to add and change with the iPhone. Then again, there is not a single device out there that is perfect. That just does not exist. None the less, you have to give Apple credit for giving us frequent firmware updates to improve the phone. (Ask a Palm OS user how often they would receive major updates…) So what exactly are you looking for Apple to add to the iPhone in the next firmware release?

Is your iPhone getting old and boring? Or are you so in love with your phone that there is nothing that would separate you? What would it take for you to leave the iPhone and move onto something else?

How has your reception been lately with your iPhone 3G? Who really is to blame for the reception issues that you may be experiencing right now? Well head on over and let us know if you think it’s Apple or AT&T!

Next up, we have a thread from forum member Dizzy, he’s having a little problem with his iPhone 3G USB cable tearing. Anyone else have a cable that is tearing? None of us here at TiPb have had that happen. Hopefully it stays that way!

Last but not least, here is a thread that revolves around the iPhone and gaming. The most wanted killer iPhone game is…? You decide on this one. What would a sure fire hit for Apple and the iPhone? Let us know!

In order to vote for the next President of the United States, you had to register… well you have to register here as well! It’s fast, simple, and can be done right here!

See you on the forums!

First Look: Handshake for iPhone

How many times have you been away from your computer and wanted to give someone your contact information? With a new app called Handshake [iTunes Link], you can send another iPhone (or iPod touch) user any contact information stored on your iPhone. The application works by using Core Location coupled with other technologies to send address book cards over the air.

When you first launch Handshake, it will attempt to find your address book card; if it can't, it will ask you to specify a card. Handshake will then connect to its servers, and you will be able to send either your card, a contact's card, or a picture -- just by tapping on one of the main three buttons. You can also change your default card by tapping the wrench in the top-right corner of the application and choosing the blue arrow under "My Card."

This is a very simple application, with a very simple idea, that just works. The application will send data over WiFi, 3G, and EDGE connections. Since the application uses Apple's Core Location framework, it relies on GPS, cell triangulation, or WiFi positioning. The lack of GPS on the iPod touch makes the app less reliable than the iPhone, but a new feature in version 1.1 hopes to fix this by allowing users to search for others who are sharing cards. Version 1.1 will also give users the ability to send industry-standard vCards through email to other people, regardless of whether they're using an iPhone or not.

Handshake is currently at version 1.0.1, and can be downloaded from the iTunes Store in two flavors: free or paid. The paid version removes the ads. Version 1.1 should be out sometime this week. You can look at our gallery of screenshots to see the additions to version 1.1.

Thanks to Kyle Richter and Ian Baird for the information, and their help!

Every week I will be bringing you what I think are the week’s biggest stories and articles. Let’s get started, after the break!

AT&T ends iPhone survey

This is cool! The survey asks what features you would like to have on your iPhone. Dare we say copy/paste? I don’t know how to feel about this survey. It is from AT&T, not Apple. AT&T can’t implement a single feature on the list by themselves… so one has to wonder.

Need a new power charger?

Look no further than the Griffin PowerDuo. You can tell by my review I love this thing. Heck, I am using the USB cable right now (plugged into my PowerBook G4). I will then plug it into the 12V adapter in my care on the way home after shopping…

Direct podcast downloads in firmware 2.2? OMGZ!!!

If the screenshots can be believed, this would be great! But I still have to ask how. Do you already have to subscribe in iTunes first? Can you subscribe OTA? I can’t wait!

LogMeIn coming to iPhone

This is a great free service I already use. The fact that it is coming to iPhone makes it all the more valuable to me! I use LogMeIn to control my PC Laptop and my iMac remotely for free, very cool.

Canada hearts the iPhone 3G

Considering their smaller population size, Rogers has sold a staggering 255,000 iPhone to our northern neighbor! Wow. Hmm, this cooky iPhone thing might catch on after all…

AT&T free Wi-Fi? Really? I mean, really?

Yeah, it is for realz this time. Looks pretty slick too! We should have a post up this week discussing how it works for ya :-)

MobileMe Updates. Hey, they are only a month old. Better late then never I suppose

Man, I was really hoping that the MobileMe blog would be posting useful information, like, oh I don’t know, updates to their service? Instead, we find out through a wayward means that there is a support document posted at the end of September discussing the changes to the service. Apple really needs to get the MobileMe department in check already!
