iPhone OS 3.0 Coming March 17!

Posted on by Rene Ritchie.
Categories: Uncategorized.

Engadget has just posted:

We just got the announcement, iPhone OS 3.0 is coming. Set your clocks, mark your calendars. It’s going down March 17th. Apparently, we’ll get a sneak peak at the new OS, as well as a look at a brand new version of the SDK.

We weren’t too far off in our speculation. And with the news coming today, does that put a little pressure on Palm for their own special even (which starts in just a couple ours, with live coverage at PreCentral.net)

Start the count down now folks. And the rumors. What are we going to see?!

[Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]

Apple Pulled Genius for Movies and TV Shows from iTunes 8.1?

I asked about this last night on Twitter, and now MacRumors is confirming it. It looks like Apple pulled the Genius Sidebar from Movies and TV Shows just prior to launch. Since it was advertised on Apple’s website (now revised to exclude it) and the release notes themselves, it certainly appears to be a hasty reversal on Apple’s part.

Was it not working? Returning Elektra as a recommended addition to your Batman Begins/Dark Knight collection? Choking on its own “reality show” library?

More as this develops…

Genius Feature for TV and Movies Pulled From iTunes 8.1

Several MacRumors readers have pointed out that the extension of the iTunes "Genius" feature to include movies and TV shows does not appear to be present in iTunes 8.1. The feature was advertised on Apple's site prior to the release of iTunes 8.1 an...

iPrint Photo is something of a one-trick pony, though for owners of HP printers, it does that trick pretty well.

Konami has released some new shots of Metal Gear Solid Touch for the iPhone and iPod touch and they look… snakey! BGR quotes:

A special ‘Advance Edition’ of Metal Gear Solid Touch containing the first 12 stages of the game is scheduled for release on the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch in March of 2009. The final release will follow with eight additional stages of gameplay, and will be available to existing players via a free update on the Apple App Store.

Found Footage: Blackboard course management system coming to iPhone

If you work in any type of academic environment, there's a huge chance that you might be using Blackboard for your CMS (Course Management System). Blackboard is a system that is prevalent across many college campuses and is even used by some high schools to manage course work, grades, assignments, and more.

In this found footage, Northwest College of Agriculture captured a video demo at ConnectED of the upcoming Blackboard application for iPhone and iPod touch. The application will allow you to connect to your schools Blackboard server and get important information from your account. I personally can't wait for this application to ship, and I'm sure many college students and professors are eager to use it. According to the representative in the video, the application will be free when it launches. If you didn't catch the application layout, you can see it on Flickr.

Thanks, Micah!

UPDATE: Sorry for the mixups folks, our original tip (see below) was for a how-to on getting iBluetooth setup up.

As we are all well aware, the iPhones Bluetooth capabilities out of the box left much to be desired. Missing were protocols such as A2DP for Stereo Bluetooth, and OBEX for File Transfer, which allows users to move music, video, documents, and pictures between computers or other mobile devices.

Well, all of you who are currently jailbroken out there will now be able to enjoy at least the OBEX File Transfer part of Bluetooth thanks to The iBluetooth Project Team via SweetTooth!

SweetTooth is now available on Cydia. Simply open Cydia, go to sections - system - SweetTooth. Yes, it is that easy to be able to enjoy these awesome new iPhone Bluetooth features!
