It's been well over six months since we first got wind of
Siri, the DARPA-inspired smartphone app that pledged to take all the hassle out of... well... life. It's a virtual assistant that can take care of menial tasks, things like finding restaurants, hearing reviews, and even booking tables -- all with your voice. Siri asks simple questions and reacts to your answers, and while it sadly seems to have lost some of its military feel since its DARPA days (bummer), it's a lovely companion to your happening lifestyle. Plus it's free, and free is good! Check out a demonstration video after the break, and hit up the App Store to make with the download. Meanwhile, if you're on some
other smartphone platform you'll have to wait. We fully expect Siri will break free of its current monotasking abode sometime in the future, but we don't know when.
We just don't know when.

Unfortunately these guys
are already sold out (though maybe there'll be more soon), but I'm still posting them here just to gaze on their awesomeness -- Etsy user Rabbitrampage put together these six iPhone icon keychains (well, five iPhone and one Finder) out of felt, thread, and fiber fill. I think they look great, though it would be nice to have even more custom icons available. I guess if you want a special icon keychain made of your own app (
ahem), you'll have to make it yourself.
This same Etsy user also enjoys wrapping your iPhone in felt recreations of
old retro items like Game Boys and even a VHS tape. I've already got a case on my iPhone, but if I didn't have one yet, I'd definitely pick up one of these.

Silicon Alley Insider not only says Steve Jobs showed up to show off his new iPad in a secret set of meetings in New York with New York Times and Wall Street Journal bosses, but he topped it off by wearing a top hat. Yeabuwhat?!
More intriguing: Jobs showed up wearing “a very funny hat – a big top hat kind of thing,” said Daily Intel’s source. So apparently the obsessively secretive Apple chief was disguised as the Planter’s Peanut guy for his trip to Gotham, with his John Lennon spectacles replacing the Peanut’s usual monocle. We’re told, however, that Jobs was wearing no plutocratic hat or other headgear for his visit to the Times newsroom, which, given his already all-too-imperious image, is probably for the best.
Just. Wow.
More importantly, Jobs was apparently there to discuss adding magazines and newspapers to the new iBook service announced last week along with the iPad.
Ask and we shall receive?

For those of you holding your breath for Skype to work over AT&T’s 3G network, you will soon be able to relax as Skype has told TiPb it’s only a matter of time. From their blog:
You may have seen other apps offering calls over 3G, but we’re holding ours back for a little bit longer. Why? So that we can give you the very best audio quality we can. When our 3G-capable Skype for iPhone app is released, it’ll let you make calls in wideband audio, giving you greater clarity and fidelity – because that’s what you expect from Skype.
We’ve been waiting since way back in November, when AT&T decided to allow VoIP over their 3G network, and Apple’s iPhone 3.2 SDK for iPad has now removed the last hurdle.
It’s no surprise we heard earlier that AT&T has been working with Apple to improve their network before the release of the highly anticipated Apple iPad. Perfect timing don’t you think?
More from Skype via video, after the break!
